1950's Chevy Pickup

I've never been much of a Chevy girl. Can't say that I've ever driven one actually. I can still appreciate a classic when I see one, though. I stopped to take a few photos of this rusty bucket yesterday. I was checking out an old abandoned house but this truck seemed like it wanted to be photographed more than the home (& the homes floor boards sank when I stepped into the front door. Not a good sign).

I believe this is a 1950-1954 Chevrolet Pick Up truck. One that's been left outside for FAR too long. Imagine how shiny and useful this truck would have been in its prime!
The engine was still inside of the truck, but the hood was missing. How that happens, who knows? I think this truck was happy to see me. I admire little flashes back in time like this.

This was the house that I had been attempting to photograph. It was not so excited to see me. This was the first house that was so passed dilapidated that I was scared to enter. I tried, but turned around quickly. Behind that green branch, the roof is rotted through and laying in the 1st floor kitchen. I wasn't about to endanger myself in this home in the middle of farm-country with signs of no one around.
Here's a picture of a pretty rusted-roofed barn only a few minutes away. The purple weeds and golden rod looked so pleasing against the rusty red roof and the grey sky. People always look at me oddly when I quickly pull my car over and hop out with a tripod to take pictures. I think they're neat subjects, so who cares? New additions to my photo collection on my hard drive make me happy.

I enjoyed your blog on the abandoned 1950's Chevy Pick-up Truck. I have a rusty 1950 Chevy pick-up that I also find a thing of beauty. My truck does run, though. I am slowly bringing it back to life and enjoying using it during the restoring process.Keep up the great blogs.Don, The "Antiquing Traveler"frica
