Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, blogfriends! I hope that you all had (or are still having) a delightful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s heart-felt blogs about the holiday today. We each have so much to be thankful for.
Something I’m extremely thankful for today? My perfect health records and being completely able-bodied and strong. Why am I more thankful for this today than on most days? Because I spent 4 hours hiking the Appalachian Trail today, that’s why. Nature is one of those things that I find really invigorating.

My family, or at least 18 of us, gathered in Harrisburg, PA today to enjoy one another’s company. There were babies, a bun-in-the-oven, several dogs, cousins, aunts, uncles, nana, papa, and my immediate family members.  We ate and ate and ate and talked and maybe I fell asleep for a few minutes. We eat Thanksgiving lunch here. That left me with 5 hours before it got dark outside…  That’s when I went to hike the Hawk’s Peak loop of the Appalachian Trail.
Sandi and I said our goodbyes to family that were just in Harrisburg for the day and drove to Duncannon, PA to hop on the trail. The 4.2 mile hike was beautiful. It’s a side-path to the AT, takes you directly to the AT, and has breath-taking views.

I have done this hike many times before and know exactly how long it takes to get to certain markers. I planned this trip so I would be at the huge rock overhang at sunset… and still have enough time to get back down the mountain before it got dark. Thank goodness I took my handy flashlight with because I ended up walking downhill for 20 minutes in the dark.
Sandi went with some apprehension. She doesn’t really like the steep rocky sections of the trail. The shifting stones freak her out. I actually had to carry her part of the way. Yes, carry my 60-pound-labradoodle. It’s okay, though, she was such a good girl at dinner with the babies and all of the food. She’s exhausted right now and hasn’t left her doggie pillow since we can home. She’s a fantastic dog and a loyal companion.
I’m very thankful that I can do everything that I love doing on a regular basis… not just hiking… but everything. I am thankful for my ever-loving and supportive family, for my great job (so, so thankful to be employed in this economy!), for my fun-loving friends, for all of the many things that inspire me, for everything that I own… too many things to list on my little blog. Thanks for reading Little Miss Lovely – it means the world to me to know that there are lots of others out there who can relate to me and my funny little life.

Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. Congratulations to my marvelous cousin, Ashley, and her husband, Darek, who announced today that they are execting their first child! Ash & Darek live in Wisconsin and I don't get to see them as often as I should. I'm hoping a baby might change this! Congrats, you two! Can't wait to meet the little one... Oh, & you've made both sets of my grandparents say, "Ami, it's your turn. When are you getting married and having babies?". :)
