Raggamuffin's Valentine's Day Window Displays

A few weeks ago I stripped the Raggamuffin Jewelry & Clothing windows of their holiday decorations and started working on something bright, cheery, glittery, and spring-like to fill the space. In Ocean City, February is one of those transitional months where we are just waiting; waiting for the cold weather and snow to dissipate and the warmer temperatures to arrive so we can sneak in a few nice beach days during March and April when there isn't a huge crowd on the shore. I hoped to convey thoughts of warmer, brighter, and cheerful days while designing the Raggamuffin windows this month. I started with a fun Robin’s egg blue floral fabric and a few yards of cream colored lace. I sewed together two long curtains to use as a backdrop for the display. I collected sheets of glittered-covered paper, transparent teal paper, and a stack of pink paper in several different shades. Spray painted sticks and tissue paper pom poms were elements included as well. Raggamuffin_Valentines_Day_Windows The glitter paper was cut into bell shapes and hung on strands of pink tulle. I cut the other paper into strips and stapled them into chains of hearts. Both were hung from the ceiling of the windows in front of the Robin’s egg floral curtains. Two of Raggamuffin’s flirty spring dresses were showcased on the silver spray-painted branches and became the center attractions for each window display. The pom poms were placed under the dresses and hand-made paper valentines were propped against giant red fabric hearts stuffed with recycled newspaper bunches. The red hearts and hand-made valentines are perfect for February. Come March, I’ll swap the hearts out for large paper flowers! Some coordinating backdrops for inside of Raggamuffin are in the works, too! I’ll post more photos as soon as they are in place.
