Seedlings: Week 2

2 weeks ago I planted a few trays (and egg cartons and other miscellaneous make-shift planters) of seedlings to raise in my gardens this spring and summer. I've kept these seedlings in my kitchen for the past 14 days. It's rather hard to move about the dining room when there are plastic trays filled with wet soil - but whatever. It works and my plants are loving it. My zinnias and snapdragons are growing faster than expected (they've exceeded their sprouting expectancy by more than a week!).

I have more than a dozen different flowers planted with plans to transplant them to my outside beds shortly. My little green house is busting at the seams with vegetable seedlings. I might snap a few photos of them once they start growing a little taller. Seems like the cold temperatures have stunted their growth. I wish I could bring them inside, too, but the fam might freak out if there is any more soil in the kitchen.

Check out my tiny plants:

Zinnia Sprouts - Little Miss Lovely Zinnias. I've planted about 5 trays of these. Can't wait to see the different colors they turn out to be. Snapdragon Sprouts - Little Miss Lovely Snapdragons. A variety of tall, mixed colored dragons. Sunflower Sprouts - Little Miss Lovely Sunflowers. These are my favorite to watch. Seeing the seed shells shoot out of the soil was incredible. Helichrysum Sprouts - Little Miss Lovely Helichrysum. Tall, double mixed colors. These two-toned beauties will be in shades of yellow, red, orange & white. Aster Sprouts - Little Miss Lovely Asters. Crego variety. Mixed colors. I'm hoping to see some pretty pinks, purples & whites.

I'm geeking out about these lovelies and am so excited for the weather to warm up. The thought of more frost makes me anxious every night. I want my soil to warm up and for these babies to be rooted in real ground. - Ami
