h + k wedding

Happy August & happy wedding day h + k! This evening at 7 pm, one of my bride’s – Heather – is tying the knot in one of my favorite Maryland parks! Heather and Kijjit are getting married at Tuckahoe State Park beside the beautiful 60-acre lake. I dropped off all of their flowers earlier this morning and wished Heather good luck! From what I’ve heard, her fiancé, Kijiit had planned a sky-diving date and had hoped to propose to Heather then… but… Heather was onto his awkward shenanigans and called him out on his plans! Kijjit had to replan his proposal. He chose to wake her up in the middle of the night during a full moon and proposed then. If at first you don’t succeed, try and then try again – right? Thankfully, Heather said yes and the planning began. I was lucky enough to have a friend, Jessa, recommend that Heather contact me for her flowers. Jessa is such a free spirit and I knew that any opportunity to work with a friend of hers was going to be fantastic… and that it was. I knew that Heather’s flowers were going to be beautiful as soon as she said something “I like wildflowers but you can make whatever you’d like. I’m sure it will be pretty and I’m really laid back.” Awesome, right? I headed to the farm and started planning. Locally grown sunflowers, gladiolus and snapdragons made it into the bouquets. Maryland’s own state flower, the Black-Eyed Susan, entered the mix, too. I hid a few pink tulips in the mix, as well. Check out the finished products below… Each bouquet was wrapped with green silk ribbon, tied with dainty white lace, and featured a little metal key charm. The bride’s bouquet had a large key while the bridesmaid bouquets had smaller ones. Several hair clips were created, as well...
