Rods & Rockers

Last Saturday I spent all day serving drinks to hundreds of rowdy people enjoying the spring weather. After mixing up cocktails and dealing with some sloppy drunks for 10 hours, I was more than happy to get out of the house and do something refreshing. My girlfriends and I got dolled up and went to our local tavern, The Steer Inn. Since it was Cruisin’ Weekend and there were tons of retro-American lovers in town, the Steer Inn hosted their 3rd annual Rods & Rockers on Wheels party. By 9 o’clock PM, my friend Tracy had been crowned Miss Rods...

Filly

The spring 2011 collection by Filly Designs is so minimalist and showcases such flattering silhouettes it has me rethinking my entire wardrobe. Filly, a Portland based clothing company, uses simple shapes, cuts, and colors to flatter a female figure. Another bonus? The fabrics in this collection are predominantly sustainable, American-milled, and created in small-batches. Each hand drawn pattern turns into a hand-sews prototype. Cropper Concrete Factory

The George B. Cropper Concrete plant has been clearly visible to anyone entering the southern end of Ocean City for decades. This concrete company is responsible for creating much of the concrete that aided in the development of this coastal town. I guess you could say that Cropper’s helped create Ocean City. Unfortunately, this concrete factory hasn’t been used in over 10 years. On April 29th, 2011, the Cropper Concrete plant was auctioned off for 4.1 million dollars. A local family who is known for many large developments in our area purchased the multi-zoned, mixed-use property. They currently do not have any...

Cruisin'

For one weekend the streets of Ocean City are stuck in a time warp. Or they appear that way when it's Cruisin' Weekend in our coastal community. During Cruisin' Weekend, thousands of pre-1970 cars flock to the shore. It's quite the site... and sound... and smell, too. There are actually two Cruisin' Weekends; one in the spring and another in the fall. The folks that own these cruisers are quite a bunch. They spend hours upon hours perfecting their cars and use this weekend to showcase their hard work. It's so neat to talk to a classic car owner that's pleased with...
